Brief Reiki Description

While I offer sessions for three kinds of reiki I learned, I recommend the Usui Ryoho Reiki for most people.

When most people think of energy healing, reiki usually comes to mind first. There are many offshoots of reiki that has developed over time, but the original form was channeled and developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s. It can be a form of relaxation and helps to replenish and re-align the natural energies that flows through all things. It is thought that when our energies get low we are more prone to emotion and physical illnesses.

The word Reiki actually means “spiritually guided energy.” Rei refers to a higher power, while the word chi refers to the energy or life force that runs through all things. Reiki is considered an intelligent energy because of how it is channeled and the practitioner allows the energy to flow through them from Spirit to you. When done correctly, reiki is simple and safe.

All energy healing involves our spiritual energies, sometimes also referred to as chi, but not all energy healing modalities are reiki. Some may involve the practitioner actively guiding the energies or use different channeled sources of energy. Some involve what is called an ‘attunement’ or passing down of the ability to do the healing, others do not.
